what condition my condition was in

Let me be blunt…

Well for this post i will focus a little on the medical side of the marijuana controversy…

There was an article published in the Issues in Science and Technology that stated,” marijuana’s active components are potentially effective in treating pain, nausea, AIDS-related loss of appetite, and other symptoms.” Many cancer patients get proscribed medical marijuana for their pain as well. From people with sleep deficiencies to people that get migraine headaches can also be prescribed medical marijuana. There are currently 14 states that you can obtain cannabis in for medical purposes. These states include Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont,Washington and most recently New Jersey in 2010. It has been in discussion for a while now if Pennsylvania residents will be able to obtain medical marijuana but the law has yet to be passed. In my own opinion i think it would be a great idea, if not the best idea for every state to have medical marijuana. It is proven fact that it DOES help you. Although the smoke inhaled into your lungs can have negative effects, therefore you could also make oils and butter to put into food and take it that way. There is also the use of a vaporizer. It heats the active ingredients in cannabis and it produces a vapor that you inhale. This vapor releases 5 components (including the main component THC(what gives you a high)) where just smoking marijuana from say a rolling paper also know as “joint” you intake 111 different components of the marijuana. And for those who don’t know… it can’t kill you…you can’t overdose (unless you smoke your body weight in cannabis which if you do you should invite me over) so don’t worry. I recently read an article by Bill Zimmerman, PhD that he wrote in 2001 that caught my interest:

“Marijuana has been used as a medicinal herb for thousands of years, going back to ancient civilizations in Egypt, India and Africa. In all that time, up to and including the present day, there has never been a report of a fatality directly due to the consumption of marijuana.
In contrast, over 1,000 people die annually in the US from an overdose of our most common non-prescription drug, aspirin. In addition, many thousands of deaths result from the legal prescription drugs.”

So in conclusion for this post and what I am thinking will be my thesis for my augmentative essay is a quote by Kristen Dunst, “If everyone smoked weed, the world would be a better place.”
